WELCOME TO THE NIGHTTIME CLUB
July 12 :: Portland Train Station :: 9:00 pm

GET YOUR NIGHTTIME GROOVE ON
Bedtime, schmedtime - it's time to get your nighttime groove on with The Night Ride, Portland's only gigantic moon-lit bicycle adventure ride.

There's no denying it: this ride is the best way to see Portland in all its glory at night! So put on your lights, dress up in costume and head to the Portland Train Station this Saturday night for a ride like no other.




PORTLAND NIGHTLIFE IS THE BEST
We're doing our part to "Keep Portland Weird", or at least showcase the creativity that makes Portland such an incredible place to live. You'll get a dose of some of the best in Portland night life on The Night Ride. We don't want to give away the surprises you'll discover along the way, but here is some of the special entertainment you'll encounter on your nighttime journey:

• HoopShine - Glowing, hip grooving hula hoopers
  
• Go go dancers - We hope you'll join them at the disco party rest stop
  
• Filmed by Bike movies - An exclusive screening of movies from the 2008 Filmed by Bike film fest
  
• Zimba Marimba - Playing at the finish line
  
• A lone bag piper - Tucked away on one of the eerily secluded portions of the course
  
• Fire dancers - Skillfully spinning flaming poi, sticks and juggling pins
  
• Costumed riders - Hundreds of them riding alongside you

COSTUME CONTEST
No one loves to get dressed up and crazy more than the Nighttime Club. So get your costume on and vie for great prizes at the start line. Our roving team of judges will be looking for you in your awesome costume.

Best dressed as FRUIT will receive a case of all-fruit bars from Gorge Delights. Best dressed as a VEGGIE will receive a box of organic produced delivered to your home by spud!

Other prizes include Amtrak tickets, Filmed by Bike DVDs, passes to the Hottest Day of the Year Ride and much more. Plus, the lucky creative ones may be featured in our brochure next year. Like this gorilla; who knew he'd be so famous? (and, er, who is he, anyway?)



WHAT YOU GET
Our Start Line Party at the Train Station is hosted by the Bike Gallery and we'll be giving away free Fun Reflectors to all riders who come in costume.  Fun Reflectors made a custom reflector just for the Nighttime Club that features an "arrange your own" set of moon and stars to put on your bike or helmet for nighttime safety and fun. Your ticket to ride is a glow necklace; wear it to ward off vampires and other creepy creatures along the way. All riders will get yummy nighttime treats on course including a get-buzzed-up candy station and fresh popcorn at the movies. We're also giving away glow-in-the-dark tattoos.

Check in for the ride early at the Pre Ride Party and you'll get an additional goodie bag of treats. It's also a great opportunity to meet other riders, check out the course and relax at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall (you know what that means...). Join us on Friday from 4-7pm at the Lucky Lab, NW 19th and Quimby. You may pick up materials for other riders and you may also register for the event at this pre-ride party.



SUPPORT THE
BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ALLIANCE
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance is our statewide advocate for safer streets, better bike facilities, cyclists' rights and bike safety education. Portland is a great place to ride a bike for many reasons, and the BTA has been an instrumental force in making that the case. The Night Ride is a benefit for the BTA and you can ride high knowing that by joining in on the Nighttime Club you're supporting their good work.

So come on, bring along friends and family to ride along with you! The more people we have out there, the more support we can raise for the BTA.
